Hi everyone,
I had to swap my 1988 40 hp Yamaha from my fishing boat to my pontoon. The motor on the pontoon lost a cylinder and we use the pontoon almost every day.
Anyway the Yamaha we working fine on the other boat. Now that it is on the pontoon if I turn the steering wheel to the right everything is fine if I turn it slightly from center to the left the motor slows down as though I pulled back on the throttle or it is in a bind. Any ideas what would cause this?
I've double checked to make sure that the cables are not in any kind of a bind and are secured to the motor properly.
The only thing I changed during the swap was the oil in the lower unit and installed a new water pump kit.
Thanks, Timmy
