40 Johnson VRO

OH OH I was given a boat with a 1985 Johnson 40 "VRO" on it, when I looked up VRO here people are talking about oil tanks etc. The guy who I got it from says he runs it 50:1 and theres no oil tank etc with it. Am I killing the motor or is this safe ?

Lot of people disconnect the VRO when it breaks down, just premix 50:1, one pint oil per six gallons gas, one cup per three, use TCW3 certified two-stroke oil.
