I may be able to buy a newer outboard for my 16 foot Tracker. Since my dealer has a few to choose from, My question is is there a year to stay away from? was there a year a better design came out?. There is also a fuel injected one, should I choose that over a carburated outboard. Thank you for any insight. Bryan

The EFI 4 strokes are far better engines than the carbed ones, Bryan.

They are more economical, run smoother and need less maintenance. BUT: the maintenance MUST be done. They don't tolerate abuse or neglect as well as the simpler engines.

The main difference is computer control, which makes the EFI engines heavier.
