Hi,

I have an old (1984) 40hp Johnson Seahorse serial number: J40ELCR

It runs great and has good compression and not a spec of rust, but it does not have PTT, which is aggravating. I am having trouble sourcing a unit, and need help. I really don't want to spend more than 300 for one, because for that price I could just get a jack plate. Also, how can I identify what will fit?

I'll take any advise you want to give!

Thanks!
Rob

buy the jack plate. Right here on iboats you can probably find a good one designed with your motor in mind. The original power trim and tilt has more buyers than sellers and commands a premium well in excess of your $300 limit. If somebody sells you one for less then there is good chance it has problems.
