I have a '41 2.5 hp Sea Horse. It needs new coils and points and I THINK they are part # 375189 & 580016.
Does anyone know what years THOSE coils were used...so I know what year motors MIGHT have what I need?
I may need to buy an entire motor just to get coils and want to get the correct parts the first time.
I'm trying to rebuild my Great Uncles motor to use on our lil john boat

I've asked this several months ago, BUT can't find the info, so starting over.

My 1947 Sportsman uses a 375189 coil. They are hard to find. I saw a NOS one on Ebay back in January for $75. But your best bet is to post a free want-ad on AOMCI.org classifieds. Incidentally, my motor has the original coil and it still works fine, unlike the newer coils (from the '50's) which fall apart with age.

I think I sent you a few PMS about it, but not sure if you replied. I would have coils and points in stock.

Those coils are nearly bulletproof. They were made before OMC learned how to make coils that melt or crack after five years. Make sure they are bad before condemning them. A bit of beeswax oozing out is not reason for concern
