4200rpm to 3200rpm

cruising along at 4200 rpm - engine instantly went to 3200 rpm - lost plane and could not recover - limped back to dock - then engine hard to start and noticed more smoke than usual - not sure where to start looking - electrical or fuel related? thanks for any help - tom

Sounds like you lost power on one cylinder. Remove spark plugs and check each one. If you're real lucky you may just have a bad/fouled plug. If not a plug could be a dirty carburetor. Could be lots of things but those are good places to start looking. Good luck!

is it an F2.5 or an F350 or a DT2 or a DF250 ?
