when i put this motor in foreward it goes around 5 miles per hour, no clunk when shifting into gear, like its going into gear.
full throttle it does the same 5 miles per hour and no clunk it just revs up . it doesent clunk when going into reverse either.
any ideas? is it in gear or isnt it ?

check your prop hub to see if its spun ,by that I mean see if the rubber center is broke and letting the hub slip. Put a mark on the inner and outer point of the hub ,and run it for a minute on the lake with a load on it ,and then compare the marks to see if they have slipped. MOPARMAN

Where the prop goes on the prop shaft is splined, the splined portion is attached to the prop itself by way of bonding. The rubber splined portion can spin in the hub of the prop where it was bonded to the hub, so put a mark on the hub and where the splined section attaches, if the two marks don't line up after running it a minute or so in gear ,then it needs to be repaired.
