I just wanted to give a quick shout out to the many informative Chrysler OB motor fans for the help on all my newbie questions throughout the last month.
my first post was about my 45 hp and whether or not I should scrap it. There did not seem to be a ton of boat shops that would work on it...so I bit the bullet and bought a manual and subscribed to this forum and Seloc. You may need to scour the US and Canada for parts, however that is part of the fun!!!!
After I successfully reinstalled the rebuilt LU, fuelpump kit, spark plugs, and cleaned it up a bit, the motor is running and is mechanically sound. I found a great deal of pleasure and pride hearing the motor running again after 2 weeks of being down. It was soooo worth not dropping it in the lake.
I repainted the hood and the shaft of the motor the origonal colors and now the motor looks and functions like it did when it was born 33 years ago
Thanks to Chrysler Crew(Franz), JB, Eurolarva, Roscoe, JerryJerry05, and Frank A, I am back on the water.
Advice to the newbies like me.
-Listen to these guys, take what they say as educated suggestions from experience.
-Read JB's post about asking questions in the forum and how to ask them...also search the forum with keywords of your problem. Chances are there is at least 1 person out there that has/had the same problem as you and the forum may have answered the issue.
Thanks guys...
