45 hp Marnier no high end under load

our 45 hp marnier has no power under load. It runs up find in nuetral, but in gear it never seems to get above about 1/2 throttle. I have kitted the carb, changed the power head and it still doesnt run right. Any suggestions as to the fix?

Hi, Preludesi.<br /><br />Welcome to the board. <br /><br />Your engine is running down one cylinder, or with throttle half open.. <br /><br />Stop replacing things and trouble shoot it to find out why.<br /><br />Any multi-cylinder 2 stroke will "run up fine" with a dead cylinder under no load.<br /><br />What happens if you pump the primer bulb when under load? If it picks right up you have a fuel supply problem.<br /><br />What happens when you disable each spark plug at idle on the hose? If rpm does not drop that is a dead cylinder.<br /><br />Do you get a hot, blue spark from each spark plug lead to the block when held 1/2 to 3/4" from the block? If not, you have an ignition problem. (Handle the plug leads with insulated pliers.)<br /><br />Did you really replace the whole power head?<br /><br />Let us know what you find. Good luck.

thanks for the info, we did replace the entire power head. do you know the float settings for the carbs? They are off and we want to make sure the float setting is correct before we reinstall them. the #s on the carb castings are wma1 and wma3. thanks.
