Hello everyone. My spring project has turned from replacing my holed oil pan in my 1988 22' Stingray to a complete repower from the stock 1988 7.4/ 330 horsepower to a reman 454 Mag/385 horsepower setup. Same drive, Bravo 1. The old prop was a Mirage 23p. Top end, boat did about 60.5 on the GPS at 5000 rpm. From looking at Stingray's website, the "boat less engine" weighs 2043 lbs. THe engine weighs another 1000-1200 lbs.

For the new setup:
My goal is top end.

Mercruiser's prop calc says mirage 25p. Sound about right? I would've said 26....

IS the mirage really the best choice for a fully submerged bravo 1 drive looking for top end? If not, what aftermarket shapes/cups/blade #'s would be better?

If I went with lab finishing, how much more pitch could I run? 27p? 28? none?

Also I think it is time for a nose cone, how will that effect pitch if at all?

Right now, if I had to buy the prop today, I would order up a lab'd 27p mirage.

Thanks all, this forum has helped me all spring.

Mike.
