Hey guys, been awhile but I have an issues that I know someone will help me with. Gen 4 454 unwinterized the engine and started at home on the trailer. It ran beautiful. I get it to the river, start it, everything appears good. I leave the dock and smell the paint cooking, look at the temp gauge, and I'm at 180. Raw water cooled btw. Shut her down. Go into the engine compartment. Everything is hour in there. I beat on the thermostat housing, thinking maybe it locked up over the winter. Start it up, runs great cols down. No big deal. I buy a replacement thermostat. Just installed it. Started it here at the dock at the gauge kept climbing up to 180-185. I sit her down. Tried to beat on the Stat housing but nothing. Riser seemed cool for a bit. It looks like the water needs to exit through the thermostat into the houses for the manifolds but they are not getting the water. I removed then to verify. Another stuck thermostat? Something I'm missing? Air pocket from winterization? Help with any ideas, thank you in advance

Ayuh,.... Sounds more like a bad impeller, than a thermostat issue,...

+1 agree, impeller and the engine cools down sitting because if the impeller is toast and water passes right by it and fills up the block. You might have had a piece or two of the impeller left when you restarted and then they came loose, then no more cooling

you make no mention of hooking a hose up , does the drive supply the cooling or a engine mounted pump?
