2 months ago I rebuilt both carbs on my motor. Yesterday(on my birthday, at 4am) I was running about 4500rpms and the moter mad a funny noise. It sounded like when I was running with a bad prop. I stoped and checked but the prop was fine. I tried to restart and it turned over fine once. Now the motor wont turn.

If I shift to neutral the prop turns free. In Fwd the prop spins with clicking noise one way and wont turn the other way, as it should. In reverse the prop wont turn at all.

No amount of force will turn the Flyweel no matter where the shift lever is.

Where do you think my problem is the power head or the lower unit??

Also if the powerhead had an extreme failure could it be releated the my rebuilding of the carbs?? Note:after rebuilding the carbs I could idle fine and WOT I got 5100rpms.

Please help Summer is NOT yet over.

Unless you changed your main jet or had a massive air leak where they mount, the carbs shouldn't have caused the powerhead to lock-up. In the case that the gearcase locked-up, check your gearlube. The evidence will be there if that is the problem.

Try manually turning the flywheel back and forth. If the powerhead locked-up, you wouldn't get any flywheel movement at all. If the gearcase locked-up, then you'd still be able to turn the flywheel back and forth a bit. Of course that still could be the case of the powerhead had failed, but it's one means of finding out.

The flywheel Cant be moved at all. I have removed the carbs and found some part of the lower piston or connecting rod sticking out of the side of the case. Does this mean the power head is toast?? I have checked on replacement powerheads and the are kinda high. I dont think I could rebuild the head myself.
