Any thoughts on a 45hp (roughly mid seventies) on a 15ft tri hull? Are these good engines, good performers? Or am I asking for trouble? really need to know asap because I am buying a boat tomorrow but want some reassurance. Any help thanks

No on the water test=no sale! You sound really pressured. Back off take a breath and think about what you're doing. You've presented no info on the proposed purchase.

If the motor was cared for it should do fine. I agree with a test ride. Main drawbacks to that motor are they are gas hogs at full throttle, and parts are getting harder to find. Advantages are they are pretty easy to work on and I think well built. If you buy this motor and everything runs be sure to post back. There are a few things you want to do to make sure the motor keeps running well. Good luck.

I agree with the above, get a test ride[ and put it through various speeds, check the shifting ability, any heat issues, is the motor the same year as the boat, or newer?] These motors are very easy to work on when the need arises, and you always have this forum to fall back on if the manual your going to buy for it is not specific enough. Happy boating if you get it.
