Hi Guy's, according to the last visit info, it say's Dec. 31, 1969? I know it hasn't been that long!
Anyway, a friend bought a Bayliner with a 460 King Cobra with OMC outdrive.
The engine S# is T1156452 according to owner, I have not verified this. Can someone tell me what year this setup is?
The problem with the boat is it is not shifting properly. Will one of the pro's here tell me if there is a manual on line that I can check and get the proper set-up and diagnosis of this system. The mechanic that had been working on it has retired and just trying to help a friend. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Dave

Re: 460 King Cobra w/OMC shifting problems

Howdy,

The service manuals are by engine MODEL number. serial number doesn't make a lot of difference.

There is no service manual online for a King Cobra. He'll have to buy one for his model.

I paid $100 for my reprint. If it's a 87 to about 90 (Dog Clutch) or so THIS might help. He'll need a manual though. If it's a cone clutch model life is better but only marginally....he's still got a 460......Not good....still has nearly non-existent manifolds and coupler..... If it's newer and has electronic ignition it's really bad. you cannot buy the ignition system and if there's a problem he'll have go back to a points distributor or an MSD or similar.

Cheers,

Yep...the Stuart Hasting's website is the closest thing to an online manual you'll find for shifting problems (only for clutch dog models) as indicated you need the either the engine model # or the drive model #. If the drive is a real 1990 (don't sepend on boat year) then it's cone clutch.
