TL;DR version:
What's the correct float drop for carb #1389-3489? Seen online in a few places, in the sierra carb rebuild kit instructions, and in the merc 3.0 manual that the drop should be 27mm. The merc #8 manual says 44.5mm, which is what I went with. Level set to 14mm using spring loaded needle.
Boat had been running great all season. Last weekend it started losing power and stuttering >3k rpms after pulling tubers for a good bit. Fuel filters all looked great. No problems with starting, idle, or acceleration (until I hit 3k). Couldn't wait for a rebuild kit, so started taking it apart just to see. There was a bit of crud in the bowl, bottom of power valve well, and at the bottom of the accel pump, but really not bad. Did a half-assed rebuild reusing the parts (I know, I know). Put it back together and the accel pump was binding in the well for some reason. Weird, no issues before. Had a new spare pump that I put in. Also have a spare carb, so will try swapping that in if I'm still having issues.
