OK so I picked up a donor boat for the motor, and after I got it running, I found it was leaking coolant out the weep hole. I tore everything down today, with no issues, and you can see how bad the second seal is. But my cam looks pretty beat up, so I was wondering about what the best way to take care of that is. Should I just use a scotchbrite pad or something on it?

Yeah, do whatever you need to, Scotchbrite, fine wet or dry sandpaper so the sleeve will slide on. You can use Locktite (blue I think) to seal between the cam surface and the Spedisleeve. Hmmm.... if I am not mistaken that inner seal is BACKWARDS. BOTH seals should face (garter spring side) away from the block toward the coolant.

Cool thanks, I know nothing on the history of the motor, so someone may have done it once, and did it wrong, but I'll make sure to look into that when I reassemble.

I know everyone talks about speedi sleeves by SKF, but I came across these online, anyone ever use them? Seem to be cheaper, and they are simple enough, I would think they should be fine.

I would think they would be fine. One thing going for you is that the modern seals are much better and more durable then they were 30 years ago. Good luck.
