470 cylinder casting question

I just want to confirm what I'm gathering regarding the casting stamp on 470 cylinder heads and that is the casting stamp doesn't matter, i.e., they're all interchangeable? I'm getting ready to purchase one off ebay.

Also, this looks like a 6, but it could also be an 8. Opinions please.

Well, all of the gaskets, head, intake, exhaust, etc. are the same if that helps. When you put it all back together it is best to use a OEM Mercruiser head gasket. Good luck.
