470 Outdrive

I have a complete upper and lower outdrive unit from a 79 mercruiser 470. Can anyone tell me what else besides a 470 this unit will fit? Thanks!

That should be a 1.84 ratio so would be OK for 4.3 l V 6's.

What other transom assemblies will it fit? alpha1?

The I/O unit you're talking about is the second generation for Mercruiser, and it's called a Mercruiser I.

The 470 outdrive is usually just put on a 470. Its gear ratio is somewhat unique, and they often use higher pitch props.

I wouldn't try to put such an old outdrive on another engine. It's doubtful it'd fit anyway.
