470 problems.

I went Seafair (seattle) on sunday...

I wot and cruizing till about evening.. I notice my water temp is boiled over 200 degree.. and i shut off. and water is overfilled and i pop cap off.. then let cool down then drive to dock and tow to home..

today i look at waterpump.. they look fine.. no rust or bad stuff.. ** engine was Rebuild and everything new parts** and Then i check thermostat.. it was Stuck... Im going get new Thermostat from marine shop.. and plus anything i should check??? I alrendy check Heat exchanger and hose they are good..

i hope it was thermostat cause overheat...

Better check your compression now since you may have warped your head. Let's hope not. Since you drove it home I assume it was still running which is a good sign.

Agree 100%, and keep an eye on the coolant level, any loss could be an indication of future problems. Good luck.

actually.. i had Machine shop Hone Block top deck and Head Hone too.. everything is flat.. and use OEM Head gasket.. and everything new gasket, New bearings, New rings.. all compression read good.. and I order new thermostat should be pick up tomorrow.. Beacsue i found thermostat is stucking.. it so werid.. also Impreller is replace last year.. so it all good.. i hope tomorrow it should be fine..,

I have a 470 also that over heated and I cooked my voltage regulator. So if you have problems with a dead battery I would check that first. good luck!

I found a problem!!! I use Matco Coolant.. test.. and it was head gasket..

i bought new one and replace it in less few hours.. and start it up and no over heat iuess! and ran sound good.. and went in water.. it running like CHAMP! finally!

Headgasket look like ok but i discoved small crack like hairline it hard to see.. but im glad it all fixed and put new one..
