Can anyone shed any light on how to replace the rear motor mounts on a 470?

Parts 2 and 3 in Flywheel housing schematic on this page:
https://www.mercruiserparts.com/Sho...1592&bnbr=140&bdesc=FLYWHEEL+HOUSING+ASSEMBLY

The old ones are destroyed. All of the rubber innards came out of the starboard mount as I as taking it apart (the mounting bolt was rusted to the metal sleeve down the middle of the mount) and the port mount is not a whole lot better. Do I have to pull the flywheel cover and press them, or ??? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I need to get the old ones out and then new ones in.

burn the rubber remnents out, use the correct size socket to drive the ring and sleeve out if possible. Worst case, use a small screwdriver to bend the shell inward to remove it

I'd already tried that but apparently, I needed to hit it harder...

Next question is those little brass spacers. The new mounts came packaged with 2 of them. Schematics and previous install only had 1. Any idea what the other is for?

Usually supplied with 1 spacer, but guessing in case you screw one up ? I made this to install them

Did you machine that yourself?! That's a fancy install tool... I used an appropriately sized socket to drive in the spacer and then the mount itself. I used one of the old mounting bolts to keep the socked and mount properly aligned (did a small amount of damage to one of the sleeves before coming up with the bolt idea:rolleyes:).

Yes, made it on my lathe, the small lipped upper one self-centers in the top of the housing. the bottom one is a few thou under the od of the bushing
Tighten the bolt and it pulls everything together.Used a sacrificial 3/8ths bolt just in case.
