Have to replace trim sender/ senders. I was really hoping I’d dodge this one. Outdrive is still off of boat.
Do I have to pull gimble to do this? I do have the merc outdrive Manual, it’s an MR drive.

Do you guys have an easy way to do this, or do I need to use the manual and pull the gimble? I’ll take any pointers I have never messed with anything on an outdrive.

Hipefully the wires are still in existence. One of the grounds goong to solenoids was so bad I thought it was some kind of resistance wire or something.

You just need to get access up above the gimbal ring to remove the screws holding the molded grommet in. Once you have the screws out and the cover plate off, tie a length of string to the wires (inside the boat) to act as a guide to pull the new ones in.

Replace both, position sender and limit switch.

in most cases the gimbal hsng comes off for better access to the bolt(s) that hold the retainer and wires in place
