I hope this subject hasn't been posted before, and that i just couldn't find it.
This is a rebuild on a mercruiser 470 ser# 5480148
First off i am doing alternator upgrade also. The wiring issue is that I have a red/purple wire that goes to circuit breaker and is spliced going to regulator . When I do continuity test from dead end, i get continuity every where, I mean everywhere and ground. its suppose to go #6 at plug and the breaker that is it, when disconnected. When i probe one end from open end and anywhere which includes coil both sides, choke, all posts on solenoid and the stumper GROUND.
Is this a short to ground. Oh and the orange wire is all good, other side of regulator.
