48 hp spl tilt and trim

I have manual tilt hydr assist. The motor will not tilt up. I got it up enough to remove the ball from the lower end and the top is released also. How do I get the motor to lift. I had this cable assy changed twice. The motor is a 1994.

Been there, done that. Cheap plastic parts cause the problem as you undoubtedly already know. To get the motor tilted up you have to somehow pull the release that the cable was attached to. Its been a long time since I've done one but if memory serves I did it wit a pair of long handle needlenose pliers.
