greetings- I am helping my elderly father with his 4 hp evinrude. I put on a replacement fuel pump because he had taken the old one apart and lost some .of the parts. He then proceeded to take the new one apart. I believe that I have all the parts but do not know in what order to put the sandwich together. Does anyone have a parts blowup of how this pump actually goes together? Love the man, but he has lost the wealth of mechanical ability that he once had.

Re: 4806E fuel pump

thanks again, I did in fact purchase one from Iboats. My dad took it apart after I had installed the new one. I think that I have all the parts. Now it is just working my way through the stack until I get it all in the correct positions.

Re: 4806E fuel pump

Word of warning about that Sierra 18-7350 replacement fuel pump. I just got one for my 1967 20 HP Jonson, and I had to do a bit of finagling to get it installed. The back plate (the one that sits on the gasket against the motor) is thicker than the original fuel pump my motor had on it, and it caused problems in that the original screws are too short to get through the pump, gasket, and into where they thread. I purchased longer screws (2" vs 1-1/2" 10-24 screws), but then ran into the problem that there was not enough room between the motor housing and the motor to get those screws in, so I had to cut about 1/4" off of them. Even then, the space between the motor housing and the screws before they are tightened was not sufficient to get a screwdriver in there. I had to finger-tighten the screws until there was enough clearance to get a small screwdriver in there. With the pump in place, the screw that holds on the screen filter is practically touching the motor cover, such that to replace the filter, I'll have to remove the whole pump in order to get that filter cover off.

Re: 4806E fuel pump

thanks everyone for the input. I got the pump back together and mounted and was able to fire it up today. It seem to run ok. Now I need to fine tune the engine, it seems to ruruna little rough at slow speed.
