I have a 1978 Chrysler 4 hp carb model LMB 216, and I can't figure out why it keeps leaking fuel through the air intake. I did a complete tear down of this thing, and all of the seals seem fine. It only leaks when I beach the boat and the motor tilts forward. If anyone out there has a solution I'll be very greatful for the help. Thank You!

Re: 4hp Chrysler carb help

Fuel is gravity fed to the carb from the top mounted tank. There is supposed to be a fuel shut-off valve to prevent the very leaking you describe. I forget if it is on the front or side of the engine but it should be somewhere near the front. If you have an empty hole in the cowl, you are probably missing the valve. If the valve is present, it needs to be shut when tilting the engine or transporting it.

The shut off is not the problem. The fuel in the float bowl leaks out after the valve is closed. Thanks for the idea!
