5.0 EFI Rev limiter?

Does anyone know what the rev limiter is set at on a 99 5.0 EFI, not MPI. I am able to hit the rev limiter quite easy in my boat. My tach is reading about 5400 RPM when the rev limier kicks in. I know this is too high, and I try to not let it get above 4800, but sometimes it creeps up. I try to keep an eye on it at all times, but.... I guess I am trying to make sure I don't have tach issues. Thanks for the help.

I assume you need the hole shot or you would get the right prop?

It has the prop that came with it when I bought it. Its a 19p High Five. I wouldnt have thought I could spin a five blade SS 19p that easy in a 21' boat that weighs 3250 empty.

Ayuh,.... Generally speakin',... The Prop is supposed to be the Rev-Limiter on a Boat motor...

Sounds like you need a different 1.....

Everyone is speaking the obvious. I know I need a different prop. I just want to know what the rev limiter is. I need to know if my tachometer is correct as to figure out what prop would work best for me.

I am pretty sure there is not a rev limiter.

I have a 2001 Mercruiser 5.7L TBI and a switching prop that switches from 13 to 19. When I didn't have the prop adjusted properly and it stayed at 13, I hit the rev limiter a few times but I don't think it was as high as 5400. I think I ran into mine at about 5200 RPMs.

There is definately a rev limiter, If 5200 is correct than mine may be reading 200 rpm too high.

Give us your GPS speed, RPM (I guess that's 5400), gear ratio, and we have your pitch and we'll tell you if your tach is close . . . That's as good as it's gonna get I think.

I belive you rev limiter is 4950..your not popping 5400
