So i've determined that my new to me Chap has had its block replaced sometime after 2014. I'd like to figure out some more info and hoping i can do that by ID'ing the block... Assuming the block would have some numbers stamped into other than the "878" i've already found? Anyone have any ideas on where I can look to find serial # or similar?

Should be looking for a 7 digit cast number. Block numbers should be behind and below the distributer.
Have a look here for locations and how to find the numbers

So visited the boat today and tried looking around for the cast number. Only thing I found was a six digit letter/number combo "MM7641" couldn't find anything else - this was also near the "GM - Made in Mexico" stamp. Can anyone decipher this? Having my doubts that this is anything... Should be 7 numbers - can't find anything else; although there's lots of stuff in the way.
Thanks for your help!

Freakin genius Bondo! Great guess! Called Michigan Motors and it is their block. Direct 5.0 replacement purchased in 2016! Looks like I bought a boat with a relatively fresh motor! Now just hoping all was installed proper. Waiting on some spring to sea trial....
