Silly question, but does the fuel water separator do much for filtering fuel from gas tank ?

Yes, the correct filter should filter the gas to 10 micros. The water separator part happens because water is heavier then gas so it sinks to the bottom of the filter. It's a good to pour the contents into a plastic bag or glass jar when changing it. This way you can see what kind of crud it caught and if there is any water

Ayuh,.... Everything comin' outa the tank goes to the fuel filter 1st, then the fuel pump, 'n beyond,....

I see 10, 'n 25 micron filters,.....

I reckon so, lol! Thanks fellers, I got a new one today. 20 micron Fram PS3808 Autozone of all places had one.
