I had this engine rebuilt (new block, exhaust manifolds, ignition control module) rebuilt by a certified Mercruiser repair facility in summer 2007. Motor ran fine last year (about 15 hours) but took it out last week and had problems. After running around 4500 rpm for 3 or 4 minutes, ignition circuit breaker tripped and I reset. Engine would then not run over about 1200 rpm. Mechanic thought he had found a loose ground that was causing it but same problem occurs after running at high rpms for 3+ minutes. Temperature remains steady (170-175). Any help would be appreciated.

Long shot here, But try reading the service bulletin in this link. open it up and look for "service bulletins" open it up and look for the year 99 open it up, and then open and read 99-4. I not sure but just guessing, But also keep in mind you said you already changed this part. Well good luck with it.http://www.boatfix.com/merc/mainmenu.pdf
