I am building a Goodwrench 5.7 350 engine for my boat the old engine is an OMC 350 5.7 my new engine is a 2 piece rear main seal and the old engine is a 1 piece rear main seal. Is there a difference in oil pans should I buy a marine oil pan for my new engine or use the oil pan that is not a marine oil pan? what's the difference in the 2 oil pans?

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,..... Why are you goin' backwards,..??

Yer gonna have more issues than just the oil pan not fitting,....
The flywheel, 'n coupler are also different,.....

The 1-pc. seal crankshaft is a 3" bolt pattern, 'n the 2-pc crank pattern is 3, 1/4",.....

Ayuh,..... Marine, truck, 'n car, are all the same blocks,.....

Some marine oil pans have the dipstick mounted in the pan,........ some don't,.......
Trucks, 'n cars might use the same exact pan,..... others don't,.....

The pickup/ car dipstick might interfere with the exhaust manifolds,.... or not,....

What did this replacement motor come out of, anyways,..??

Theres nothing wrong with the pan. I just wasnt sure if the extra oil would be better for the engine. I'm going to see if the dipstick with the banjo bolt will fit into the drain hole

The Good Wrench drain thread is 1/2”-20. I used many of those engines as replacements for cracked blocks. Sometimes I had to drill out the drain plug and weld a female pipe thread fitting to it. Then make up a new dipstick tube with some 3/8” steel tubing.

Thank you for the info im going to see if i can find a bajo bolt that could fit the oil pan with what i have as i dont have a welder to that. good to know the engine wont be an issue for the boat

Before doing anything I’d see if the banjo bolt from the original engine fits the one you are replacing it with. Also and perhaps more important are the flywheels different? Will the coupler from the original engine bolt onto the one for the 2 piece main seal???
Cobra or Stringer?
