im currently rebuilding my 1986 5.7 mercruiser. just before the cylinder wall rusted thru, (another Story, New Block) the fuel pump went out. in a bind i put an automotive pump on. The original marine pump Part#861678a1 i still have, is it rebuildable? if so where do i get the new parts. also with the new rebuild i switched to a edlebrock marine carb. If i am correct, i do not need the extra small line goin go the carb from the fuel pump? so do i get a pump from an older 5.7 or rebuild the original pump and just block that line off?

Ayuh,... I haven't seen a fuelpump Kit in many a years....
Buy a New 1....

The clear line is to alert you the diagphram is ruptured...
If you run a mechanical fuelpump, ya gotta plumb it to the carb....

so i bought a new one, does it take the thin paper gasket, where it mounts to the plate that mounts to the block. Maybe im thinking about automotive, but some of them have a thick (3/16) gasket. whick one do i use?

i found it, the other pump had a longer arm, the merc pump only gets the paper gasket.
