Anyone know why the studs that mount my 2 barrel carb are longer on the rear than they are on the front? Can't seem to post a pic from my phonexperience so home someone has an answer...Thanks.

Ayuh,.... I believe you'll find that's so you have enough space to mount the throttle cable bracket,...

Bondo is correct, notice there are two item number 17's and the stud sizes are different for bracket #18 in the following parts link, http://www.mercruiserparts.com/bam/subassembly/31865/2344/90
