Well Im a proud new owner of a carb problem ; ), I need to know what all I need other than the carb kit for the Rochester Quadrajet. I want to make sure I completely ovehaul the carb. It leaks from the side here by the choke:
http://opk.gotdns.org/carbandmotor/photos/photo8.jpg
She acts like she is about to start then I presume she floods out because fuel starts shooting up through the two holes here:
http://opk.gotdns.org/carbandmotor/photos/photo7.jpg
and she bogs out.

Any help and advice on this engine is greatly appreciated. I just got it yesterday and will be getting the manuals etc tomorrow. Heres a picture of the boat 1984 IMP:
http://opk.gotdns.org/newboat/photos/photo12.jpg

Make sure that the choke pull-off works. You will need to replace the fuel filter in the carb located where the fuel line connects, also along with the fuel water seperator. You should also replace the float in the fuel bowl. Also check all rubber hoses from tank to carb and replace if they are to hard, cracking, or to soft. Be sure to replace fuel hose only with Coast Guard approved fire rated hose.

looking at how rusty everything is, have you considered getting an updated electric choked reman one?

Thanks for the replys fellas. Im not sure the choke pull-off is working properly but I never got it running and looks as if it runs off vacuum.

I took the carb off and seems as if the float was stuck down. Tried to get the float at autozone but no luck. We looked at all the kits and floats he had for Rochester but no fits.

Can you help me identify my carb?
Rochester
Quadrajet
17059286
3062
GM RP

The motor is 5.7liter 350 Chevy.

What rust? I don't see any. ; )

Thats a very common carb from a Mercruiser or OMC GM 5.7 350 CI marine engine. Napa should be able to get a kit and float for that carb. All you need is the number 17059286.

Why don't you do what I did. Throw the Q-Junk in the trash, and get a 600CFM Marine carb fron Edelbrock. Best $300 I EVER spent......
