5.7 mercruiser thermostat bolts

[worth the wake]

I own a 1996 Mercruiser 5.7. I would like to replace the thermostat,Looking at the two bolts on the housing they sure look like torx.
Am I in the ball park? Could there be a special socket for these bolts?

I've had both 1984 and 2000 5.7's and they both used regular hex bolts- I think 9/16 or 5/8.

Torx are recessed like allens, you might only need a regular 12 point socket
