5.7GSi stalls return to neutral

Just picked up a 1999 Sunesta 232 with a refurb'd Volvo 5.7GSi. If we're cruisin on it at 3/4 throttle, and immediately return to neutral, it 9 times out of 10 stalls. Sometimes it will bounce very low and then catch itself.

It seems to be flooding, because on restart, it idles very high for 10-15 seconds, then returns to normal idle.

Any idea where to start looking. My ideas were IAC or bad idle adjustment at some point (cable adjusted rather than the proper EFI method)

Possibly also a shift interrupter issue?

Ayuh,... Chopping the throttle from 3/4ers, it could be Hydro-lockin' from the backwash...

That sounds reasonably Normal for an Efi...

Possibly also a shift interrupter issue?

I don't believe Volvo uses 1...

It'll even do it when trying to return slowly to idle. If i bring it down from 3/4 to a slow no wake 5mph, and then cut it to neutral, 3/4 times it will die, the one time it will catch itself and then begin to rev high for 10-15 seconds. But it has no problem going from throttle to no-wake speeds, it's only when flipping it from that last speed while in gear, to neutral.

Also, wasn't sure on the interrupter, tried doing a search but that term throws up lots of results.

What's the full model number? Need the letters after the GSi. Year doesn't help much, that is only boat year, not engine year.
