Re: 5.8 inplace of a 4.3
4.3 found water in middle cylinder on port side and a little water came out 1st cyl starboard when pulled spark plugs when getting it prepped to go to lake. so blew air to get it out and put in as much marvial mystery oil in all 6 cyl even tho only 2 showed the 2 had a little bit of water. cant turn crank over with 5/8 socket and breaker bar so its be sitting for 2 weeks soaking with the mm oil in cyl. is a 1989 OMC Vortec Cobra 4.3 SunBird. owned for 10 yrs winterized each fall but it bit me in butt this past winter the enginge has 70 hrs total run in the 10 yrs owned as it was a fresh remain put in 1999 when i bought the boat.. i just got to use it avg 2 days a year then it sits. due to job i had gone all the time. some one on local craig looking for the OMC Cobra Outdrive #985689 so i was wondering if my outfit would fit his ??? or steps and cost to get mine going again ? or just leave it alone since there no issuse as far as water & anti freeze went into oil pan. oils clean and clear as had that changed last late fall when stored boat for winter.. figured if i dont monkey with it to make things worse may be fixable at a cheaper cost ? or even thinking of selling it as is as complete boat trailer etc. as had the drive took out last year complete service, engine tune up, all belts hoses, exhaust hoses thermo etc including lube hoses belts flappers etc $2,300.00 total so it would be ready for this season till this came up..
