1996 volvo penta 5.8 fuel injected. Engine purred last week. Tried to start yesterday and it would not start, engine turns over and I got some black smoke out the exhaust. Funny thing is the guages all work except the fuel guage, it shows empty and I know there is fuel. Guage worked last time it ran. Is the sending unit and the fuel pump 1 unit? I don't have the book yet as I have only owned the boat for 2 weeks. I am going to check for fuel in the lines this morning and start tracing. Any help would be appreciated.
