I have installed an hei distributor and it requires a full 12v to start. The only way i can start it is if i run a wire from distributor directly tax the battery. It starts right up this way .... And keeps running even after key is shut down . Only way to stop it is to disconnect the wire from the battery. Engine runs great . Does any one know how to wire this so that i can get the full 12v And make it shut off properly.

You should NOT be running 12 volts. The starter solenoid has a terminal on it that should have a wire on it that runs to the coil, to deliver 12 volts when starting. This wire supplies 12 volts to the coil for starting, and then shuts off. It then runs off of the resister wire, between the coil and alternator. The resister wire drops the voltage to about 9 volts. The coil doesn't run on a full 12 volts, because you would burn up your points very quickly. You say you need 12 volts to the distributer? Do you mean the coil?

Oh, sorry, my bad. Look at the wiring diagram for the alternator. Connect a wire from the distributer to a switched post on the alternator.

If it was me , I would run a wire from the ignition post on the solenoid to the distributor. Disconnect the old ignition wire.

The old ignition wire goes to the alternator.
