My 1967 eska and manual shows a water tube with a curved piece by the motor leg/prop. It is a Tecumseh air cooled engine.

There is no water pump in the manual shown.

When I was getting the motor running in a barrel there was water shooting out forcefully from the 4 or 5 holes on the top of the motor leg on each side in a nice stream.

When I put it on the boat and ran it for a few minutes I only see a small spray which is very hot.

Is this normal? Are there really any other parts in there?

Thanks.

This is normal, no other parts, water is forced up the tube by the prop. This just helps cool the exhaust (the leg).

Re: 5 hp ESKA water tube Question- What's Normal

Thanks Commander,

Why would there be such a large amount when
I had it in the bucket, then small while underway, then small when fresh water flushing in bucket upon return? I tried a garden hose up the tube and it is not shooting out the top holes. How big a deal is it to take the leg off and see if anything is clogged in there??
