I have rebuild my carb on my 5hp iska and noticed that the gasket that goes between the carb and the reed valves is thinner than the one I received in the carb kit. The old one is about 1/16 thick and the new one is about 1/2 the thickness of what came in the kit. Does anyone know if I used the new one that came with the kit will work?

the new gasket should work for you, parts are not made the same wayas they used to be, its all about saving money and making things as cheap as they can and still consider it a part. also aftermarket parts don't always fit the same way but usually work. the engineers sit around all day and figure out if we can just shave a little bit more off to reduce costs then i can still have my job even if they re-engineered the same part. anyways hope this helps you out.

When your using a thicker or thinner carb gasket it can and will upset your carb sync with your timing advance, it screws with clearance's and that really goes for all gaskets conserning the AV817's, however if you don't have a clue what the 2 cycle Tecumseh outboard engine is suppose to run like "well tuned" I guess it doesn't really matter...but for the record yes it will work but you should re sync your carb which will require you to pull the flywheel to get the job done right.

and for the record other than needle and seat kits sold by Stens and Oregon ( same) there are no
after market parts for the Eska....and for the record the actual correct carb gasket is very thin...the big fattys are knock offs and do for a fact screw with the carb sync,
