I cant seem to find the serial number anyplace.
What year did they make the motors that are black, blue stripes, and the (50) is blue?
That might help in telling me it is a 89,as the boat is.Or not lol

It is a 14.8 open bow,has cfi on it,crossfire fuel injection,us marine power.
The boat is a 89.Not sure if the motor is or not thought,so wanted to find serial number.

The reason Im asking as it quit 2 times last year.Next day it started.
So i got to take it out and wait for it to die,so i can check spark in the coil pack,or whatever it is called that the plug wires go into.Theres 2 blue plastic covers on the pac....
I cannot find any serial, model or whatever on the pac,so as to see if my boat guy can replace it if needed.
And i also heard if its an 89,they are no places to get one,or its around 350 bucks ouch!!

Thanks, any advise on the serial number would be good.I dont see a plate under the carb,no tag on engine mounting bracket,or tag on the tilt.

My Model/Serial number is on a stamp on the left side of transom mount bracket. I have a 1989 Force 50

No paper tags on the head.
If it's not on the transom mount?
Then under the power pack and coils on the top cylinder.
There is a foundry stamp. In the center of the circle is a number.
That's your year.
The starter, if original(not likely) has the date on it.
I've only seen 1 bad coil in almost 30 years of working on these.
The connection plate that the wires lead to.
The connectors under the shrink wrap sometimes break and loose connection.

The packs are all over e-bay.

Well I will have to look tomorrow on the tag.yes the starter had a tag..Says 89..Looks like it might be what i thought,a 89.
Replaced the line bulb, and thought that might be it..Took it out,ran good...Stopped to fish, then start it..Nothing!!! tried 50 times wow... So guessing it has to be spark..Might have to take it out again and wait for it to do it again, then check spark plugs and see if theres a spark hu?

Seems after it sets over night, the next day it starts..Weird..
