Ok, I think what I need is just a lesson in the theory of operation of the firing mechanisms and so forth. I just bought this boat, and I'm trying to repair motor. I am a forklift mechanic, so I have the necessary tools and general know-how, but this thing is kicking my butt.
I have replaced the main battery wire to the key switch and I can get the motor to turn over, but I have no fire. This has, what looks like a 3 piece coil system. We have wire running from the stator to a blue coil, that then connects to 2 other coils that feed spark to the spark plug. I need a lesson in how the firing system works, so I can understand where I need to have voltage, both positive and negative.
Does the stator provide negative or positve voltage to the coils, assuming thats how the timing works?
I know I sound ignorant, that's because I am in this arena.
