I am looking at a 50 hp 70's model Thunderbolt Motor tiller steer for a 16' Lowe boat. Are parts still readily available for these motors. I will want to convert it to a steering wheel and remote controls....my brother has some of these parts, but not all I will need new shift and gas cables. Is this motor worth what it will cost me to convert it over. With my back I am unable to run this big a tiller steer.

Thanks,

it could work i have a 40 hp on a 17 1/2 and does pretty good. As far as price it depends on if you buy new. Your gonna need a wiring harness, sterring assemble, steering cable, throttle cable, and a helm. if the boat isn,t equipped with these that sounds expensive I,d asoon get a comfy seat and fish
