50 hp Evinrude 50373r manual tilt

I hope someone can help me out. The old external double ram tilt and trim died and I'm tired of fooling with it. I want to convert it back to manual tilt but the service manual isn't helping me with the reverse lock. I am likely missing some parts but cant figure out what I need. Can someone help me out and tell me how the it works?

If your motor won't lock down on the thrust bar when the lever is flipped to run because the hooks won't reach the thrust bar, then just remove that small spring that's pulling the assembly up. It should release just fine without the spring and allow you to tilt after flipping the lever to tilt again. I think I understand what your problem is, mine did the same thing and this was the only work around I could find. I had no luck on my thread with getting info. Let me know if it works on yours too. Oh and I put on a CMC PT 130 on mine, getting too old to jerk that motor up and it helps big time loading at shallow ramps keeping your prop like new.

Thanks Watermann. Hopefully that works. I can't afford to drop the money for the CMC. I'm saving my pennies to get a newer 70hp.
