Only my opinion.....everybody out your pitch forks away LOL Mopar I had a 1989 50....many guys in the force forum helped me through a gamit of problems and pitfalls with this engine. In my opinion the lower units are under built and the electrical systems are finiky....parts are available but getting scarse, (the typical stuff impellers, stators, head gaskets are available) When they run good, they are great...but the reliability is lacking. There is a ton of those engines out there I swear they made a bazillion of them. there cooloing sytems were marginal at best?? If you need an outbaord and it is all you can swing then by all means get one....but if you can buy a Merc,John/Rude at the same price do it. Again this is solely my opinion......I know this will meet with debate but I had a very bad time with mine!
