50 hp head gasket and exhaust gasket questions

I have a blown head gasket on my 50 hp 1994 Force from getting water in the gas. The metal ring snapped on one cylinder.
From other threads I will need to torque to 270 inch pounds? Can anyone tell me the order or pattern I should use to tighten the head bolts?
When ordering the head gasket, the marina also suggested doing the exhaust gaskets (2) since with the water these gasket usually go soon after the head gasket. Is this a common experience? Getting at the exhaust gasket will take some work to remove the electrical components and I hesitate to fix something that isn't broken. Any suggestions or past experiences would be appreciated.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The bolts holding the exhaust cover on are prone to break. If you do feel the need, then be prepared for this.

Re: 50 hp head gasket and exhaust gasket questions

I didn't feel the need and left the exhaust alone. Before replacing the head gasket, one cylinder was 5 psi the other 150 psi. With the new gasket I'm at 140 psi on both cylinders. Motor runs beautifully and idles well once again. I can put it away knowing I'm ready for next year. Thanks to all those who post on this forum, as the information has been a tremendous help! Force are great motors!
