Could I get some suggestions on who to order a cylinder block for a 1995 or newer 3 cylinder 50 hp Johnson for rebuilding. It does not need to be bored out but it does need to be rebuildable.
Online or in the Wisconsin/Illinois/Michigan/Minnesota area would be preferable.

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately my center cylinder had been bored out to .40 over already. I did not realize this when I bought the boat. I don't think that I can have this motor resleeved. I believe that the sleeve is cast into the mold. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks again,
Jack

Resleeving is no problem. That'll take it back to standard.

Anybody ever figure out why the center cylinder has been bored so many times? Hummmm........

Good luck!

Bought the boat used so I figure the guy who did the original boring didn't know what he was doing. Additionally, I don't think the oil injection system is very reliable. I think I am going to just mix the oil manually.

Also, where can I order a sleeve from? Any ideas?

Thanks for all your advice.

Any place you can order pistons and gaskets from can most likely order a sleeve. I wouldnt worry about it because the machine shop will have to replace it unless you have a complete machine shop.

There are several threads about the updates for the 56 cid motor and the problem with it running lean in the mid range. Since the pistons are available in .020, .030 and .040 oversize I'll bet this is a repeat performance motor. Do a search and youll find a ton of info.

Clanton left a very detailed list lately. I'll try to find it for you.

Good luck!

Look at hookinfinger's post about "why disconnect the VRO?" on this board.
