Well, my 16ft grumman with a 50 nissan is ready, just refurbished the boat and installed the 2001 nissan, she drives real nice, however I want to know I'm protected for overheating? Some boats have a warning buzzer internal to the controls, is that the case with this engines controls? There are four wires coming out the bottum of the controls, what functions do they do and also there is a long harness with four wires coming from engine around the hydrolic trim unit? What does that harness do? So far most the schematics have been very poor in the art. Little help please, Scott

Scott, Year is irrelevant. What is the actual model and serial? Is this a TLDI (fuel injected) motor, or is it an old 50D (with 3 carbs)? Regardless, yes, there is a buzzer in the RC box. You can d/l an ownwer's manual from http://www.nissanmarine.com/tech_talk/owners_manuals.html ... that will explain the buzzer operation.

The wires at the control may be for instruments such as tachometer. Your "extra" harness may be for an additional tilt/trim switch... not uncommon. Once you have the correct model/serial, you can get a Factory service manual (from any dealer, including me) to review the wiring. Thankfully, the Tohatsu/Nissan color codes are pretty much standard, so having information regarding the colors of the wires will also tell us a lot.
