Hi guys

I have a 50HP Merc Brown band 1985 serial number 9421064.

I have no spark at any of the plugs and i've confirmed that it's not anything to do with any kill switches etc so my attention has turned to the Stator and trigger. As i can't afford to just replace the lot or stick it in with an engineer i was hoping that someone on here could let me know what the readings should be between the wires?!? My gut feeling is with the Stator but if i know what the readings should be fingers crossed i'll try and pick up a new one.

This is about the time when a factory service manual becomes very valuable.
It has the readings you need, and also probably a step by step troubleshooting diagram to lead you to the fault part. Odds are good when you replace the bad part it will have to be timed and synchronized. That also is in the book.

Good diagnostics is the surest way to limit the cost of parts.

I see you are overseas and a manual might take some time to get. Maybe someone has it and can "read" the appropriate info to you.

hope it helps

Re: 50 HP Stator & Trigger readings

Many thanks to Ken G who kindly messaged me what the readings should be between the wires and it looks like my Stator is knackered. Anyone know what part number it should be for my engine? There's a guy on ebay selling one that's new for ?100 but he isn't an expert and didn't know if it would fit my engine.

Cheers
