Lucky I've got a Brand New M50D2 here in USA.
The problem is that it's a Long Shaft (20 Inches).

Does anybody have any experience converting tohatsu shaft lengths ?

I'm looking to convert it to a Short Shaft, Looking at the parts manual I've got the part numbers.

3C8Q611911 DRIVESHAFT HOUSING S (AMB)
3C8651000M WATER PIPE S
3C8660120M CAM ROD S
3C8643010 DRIVE SHAFT S
3C8013031 Engine Basement Gasket
3C8610121 Drive Shaft Housing Gasket

It's so expansive to buy the parts, it gets about 1/3 of the engine price to replace the shaft. I wish I could buy something Short Shaft here so I would sell the engine and buy a Short.

Anybody there have those and wants to trade ?

Right you are; Converting shaft length with new parts is costly. Usually better to get a used/blown donor motor, or better yet, sell/swap for one of the proper length for your application.

I'm trying to find a donnor for it but it's being hard. Do you know anybody who stock tohatsu used parts ?

I can't find anybody who has a short shaft tiller 50HP around here and mine has only about 5 hours on it, so it would be hard to find anybody to exchange. Didn't even finished breaking in time.

Instead of so much trouble, why don't you raise your transom 5" more, if too complicated place a 5" high metal mount in middle transom to raise & match 20" engine tail, will work excatly the same as a short tail. Check.

I have a late model 50HP Tohatsu, tiller steer, short shaft in Louisiana, if you are interested in it. Well kept, low hours, save you the trouble of the conversion. Let me know if you'd like to know more.
